FMA Launches Dedicated Helpline Email for Survivors of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV) on World Mental Health Day
In observance of World Mental Health Day, the Foundation for Media Alternatives (FMA) proudly launches a new, dedicated helpline email tfgbv.helpline@proton.me offering a safe, confidential, and survivor-centered space for those affected by Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV).
As digital spaces increasingly become sites of harm through cyberstalking, non-consensual image sharing, online harassment, doxxing, sextortion, and other forms of technology-facilitated abuse, survivors continue to face fear, stigma, and isolation. The mental and emotional toll of TFGBV is real and lasting. Through this initiative, FMA aims to help survivors find support, healing, and empowerment in reclaiming safety online.
A Safe Space in the Digital Age
The new TFGBV Helpline will:
- Provide confidential guidance and psychosocial support for survivors of online abuse.
- Connect survivors to legal, psychological, and digital security resources.
- Be managed by trained support staff who understand the complexities of TFGBV and handle each message with empathy and care.
FMA commits to responding to messages within 24 to 48 hours (Monday–Friday). Survivors’ patience and understanding are deeply appreciated, as the team ensures each concern is addressed with sensitivity.
“Technology-facilitated violence is real violence,” said Christina Lopez, Program Officer and Digital Security Trainer at FMA. “It leaves emotional, reputational, and psychological scars. This helpline is more than an inbox. It’s a space rooted in listening, believing, and standing with survivors as they reclaim their power and safety in the digital world. Together, we resist, we heal, and we rise.”
