COMIC TITLE: PASS THE MESSAGE (VACCINE EDITION)
In the first panel, the doctor stated the possible side effects of the available COVID-19 vaccine. It includes slight swelling of the arm in the area of the needle puncture, headache, fatigue, low-grade fever, and in extreme cases, diarrhea, or nausea.
The character in hoodie then told these side effects to his friends, but twisted some facts because he didn’t listen attentively. The girl in tank top continued to share it to another friend, twisting the facts again that caused confusion and panic to their other friends.
Let us do our part to ensure that we educate ourselves, as well as our immediate circles, with the right information about the vaccines. We can read the news and medical journals from credible sources and consult health experts to make sure that we always get the right information.
COMIC TITLE: ONLINE PROFILING
But the mother is convinced that she won in a raffle, even more than willing to share her passwords just to claim the prize. Dismayed, the daughter instantly checked her mother’s phone only to find out that she belonged to various groups which pose risks to her mother’s privacy.
The daughter then explained that it is important to be vigilant in online spaces and be careful not to access unfamiliar links because these might lead to fraud and identity theft.The comics ended with a challenge for the daughter to educate both of her parents consistently to use online platforms with caution, especially that internet-related crimes are rampant now that more and more people are online.
COMIC TITLE: DATA PRIVACY
In this comics, the mom asks her daughter about unverified posts which frequently appear on her social media feed such as politicians being controlled by the illuminati or influenced by out of this world creatures. To her daughter’s surprise, she checked her mom’s social media account, only to find out that it is full of disinformation on various topics.The daughter said to her mom that in order to not be targeted by posts with unverified information, she must stop consuming these and turn to contents with factual information.The daughter then explained that it might be hard to filter facts, especially that disinformation is rampant on various social media platforms but it is for this reason that we should be more careful in consuming and sharing factual contents only.The mom doesn’t realize it quickly but the daughter reiterated that what we consume also shapes our mindset. In the age of digital innovations, there are risks that we need to avoid and be careful of in order to enjoy online spaces.The daughter finished her reminder that social media can be used to connect to relatives, push for greater things, and actively participate in shaping opinions.
